Western Australia NEWS UPDATE 12/12/2009

After a long period of false starts and lots of effort behind the scenes we finally got our first WAAAC event off the ground. This was a practice competition held on the afternoon of the 29^th November 2009. I must admit that it was a great relief to actually have a live event and know that at least we have started having bon-a-fide aerobatic events in WA.  

Thanks to all those who participated and also especially those who helped with hosting the event, in particular, Ben Cohen from the WA Modellers association, who was a most helpful judge and Col Dewell of RACWA who is in charge at Murrayfield and whose assistance on the day was very much appreciated. Thanks also go to the president, Jeremy Miller and his crew for setting up the permanent aerobatic box the year before. 

On the day, we had three classes flown, Graduate, Sportsman and Intermediate, with two competitors in Graduate and one each in the others. The overall scores are presented below. Unfortunately, I have as yet to successfully download the official “ACRO”scoring system so please treat theses scores as preliminary. 

All in all it was great event and as everybody asked when is the next one, I’ll call it a success. The next step is to get more members and therefore more competitors and then we can plan towards an official contest.
